Matt’s passion for design was born from a childhood spent designing rhythms. His early adult years were spent writing & performing music while touring the country as a drummer in various bands/groups. This love for the creation of music formed a unique sensory awareness that has come to serve as a source of distinction in his approach to design thinking. For Matt, the discipline of architecture presented itself as a vehicle that, through thriving on the cultivation of many seemingly disparate backgrounds, ultimately manifested itself into the healthiest of obsessions for all things design.
He earned his Bachelor of Design in architecture from The University of Central Florida, and his Master of Architecture from The University of Florida. Predicating his early architectural employment interests on a level of dynamism that mirrored his prior experiences in the music industry, Matt demanded more than a “traditional job” and sought to enter the unique industry of Themed Entertainment. He has held various executive & lead design roles, and while at NBCUniversal Creative he served on the project teams for both The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley, and Volcano Bay.
Matt also has a reverence for architectural education & pedagogy and was appointed Associate Professor at The University of Florida|Graduate School of Architecture, where he currently teaches design studio while developing exploratory curriculum offerings.
