Project Description

THE SITE REVEALS COMPRESSION IN TOWARDS THE DENSE CITY AND EXPANSION OUT IN TO LAKE EOLA. THE RELATIONSHIP AND EXPERIENCE BETWEEN NATURE AND THE CITY IS A PUSH AND PULL PHENOMENOM. SPATIAL DIAGRAMS OUTLINE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MOVING FROM ONE CONCENTRATED POINT AND OUT TOWARDS OPEN SPACE.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECTS IS TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE ENCOUNTER BETWEEN NATURE AND THE CITY. THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES WHERE INDIVIDUALS WILL EXPERIENCE THIS TRANSITION FROM DENSITY TO OPPENNESS OR BETWEEN TRANSPARENCY AND OPAQUE.

ARTICULATION OF EXTERIOR STAIRS BEGIN AT THE CITY AND ASCEND TO THE OPEN PARK.

CONTRAST BETWEEN THE FULLY TRANSPARENT LOWER PORTION AND THE SEGMENTED WINDOWS ABOVE.

THE ENTRANCE FROM ROSALIND AVE GUIDES INDIVIDUALS TOWARD THE BEGINNING OF THE STAIRS; A MOVEMENT IN TOWARD A CONCENTRATED POINT AND THEREBY ASCENDING TO AN OPEN SPACE ON THE TOP FLOOR. AN ATRIUM IS LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF THE BUILDING AND CONNECTS ALL FLOORS.

PROGRAM IS ARRANGED SUCH THAT ORGANIZATIONS WITH CLOSER IMPACT TO THE COMMUNITY ARE LOCATED ON THE LOWER LEVELS WHILE EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS ARE LOCATED ON THE UPPER LEVELS.

THE GOAL FOR THIS PROJECT IS TO SPARK CURIOSITY AND ENGAGEMENT FROM THE COMMUNITY. PEDESTRIALS WILL SEE ACTIVITY IN THE EXHIBIT THROUGH THE TRANSPARENT STOREFRONT ON THE FIRST FLOOR.THE CAFÉ IS ARRANGED ON THE SECOND FLOOR AND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. PEDESTRIANS WALKING BY WILL SEE PEOPLE ON THE SECOND LEVEL SEATED OUTSIDE. LOCATIONS WHERE STUDENTS OR WORKERS CAN SIT AND STUDY OR HAVE LUNCH, INSIDE OR OUTSIDE
