Two Women & the Pavilion in the Water
August 4, 2022 | 8:15am-10am
The Lake Eola Amphitheater, also know as the bandshell, has been a predominant feature in downtown since 1924. It has served as the home for many local events, fundraisers, and community gatherings.
Join us on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Discover Downtown to learn more about the amphitheater’s predecessor, the prairie style landmark built in 1924. In the 1920s, Isabel Roberts and Ida Ryan were historic trailblazers and designers of that bandstand, as one of the first all-female architecture practices in the country. During this event you'll gain insight on the history of that bandstand and the careers of these women with guest speaker Gregory Stock, an architect, historian, and founding board member of Orlando Foundation for Architecture, and have the chance to watch a 24 minute new film, Isabel Roberts' Pavilion in the Water.
