Scholarships Applications

AIA Orlando and Orlando Foundation for Architecture  Scholarship Opportunity for 2+2+2 Participants 
 

A 2+2+2 program participant is a student enrolled in an architecture degree program at one of the three participating institutions, Valencia College, University of Central Florida, or University of Florida. 


Every year the AIA Orlando, and Orlando Foundation for Architecture offers five scholarships with a total value of $14,000 distributed as follows. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to one of the 2+2+2 programs.

CityLab-Orlando Master of Architecture degree program

 

A five thousand dollar ($5,000) scholarship for a student enrolled in the Master of Architecture degree program at the University of Florida, Graduate School of Architecture at CityLab-Orlando who have completed a minimum of 12 credits and are entering their final year.

A five thousand dollar ($5,000) scholarship for a student who has accepted an offer of admission to the first year of the Advanced Master of Architecture.  

 

Eligible applicants must be graduates of Valencia College with an Associate in Arts degree (Architecture) and graduated or will graduate from of the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Design in Architecture degree. 
 

University of Central Florida Bachelor of Design in Architecture program

 

A one thousand seven hundred and fifty dollar ($1,750) scholarship for a student enrolled in The University of Central Florida, Bachelor of Design in Architecture program who has completed a minimum 12 credits and are entering their final year.  

 

A one thousand seven hundred and fifty dollar ($1,750) scholarship for a student who has accepted an offer of admission to the first year of the University of Central Florida, Bachelor of Design in Architecture program.

 

Eligible applicants must have graduated or will graduate from Valencia College with an Associate in Arts degree (Architecture).  

 

Valencia College Associate in Arts (Architecture) degree program

 

A five hundred dollar ($500) scholarship for a student enrolled in the Valencia College Associate in Arts degree program.

 

Eligible applicants may apply during their first year of the program and scholarships would be awarded for the second year only.

 

Eligibility  

1. Must be a full time student enrolled in one of the 2+2+2 programs.  

2. Must be enrolled as a full-time student the semester of the scholarship award.

3. Must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average at the time of application. 

Award Criteria

The Scholarship recipient(s) shall be selected from all applicants based on  


1. Academic performance (GPA),  

2. Personal letter, Resume, and 2 pages of images of selected work (4 total pages) and  

3. Letters of recommendation 

Selection Process

 

The Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee comprised of two Orlando Foundation for Architecture (OFA) Trustees and 1 AIA Orlando Board member (AIA).   


The AIA/OFA scholarship committee shall request that the Valencia College, UCF, and CityLab program directors prepare a report that:  


1. Verifies applicants are 2+2+2 program students.

2. Ranks the eligible applicants by grade point average (GPA)  

3. Evaluates Letter of Interest

4. Makes recommendations for scholarship awards.  


The program directors shall forward their reports to the AIA/OFA scholarship committee. 


The committee shall meet and rank the applicants based on their individual review of the applicant’s submitted materials and the program director’s reports.

Application Process

 

A complete application consists of the following: 


1. Completed application form

2. Self-reported GPA

3. Letter, Resume, and 2 pages of images of selected work (total 4 pages) and  

4. 2 letters of recommendation from College or University Professors in the 2+2+2 program sent directly to gary@aiaorlando.com 

Completed applications shall be sent not later than noon May 15. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.

The AIA/OFA scholarship committee may not award any or all awards if the committee agrees there was insufficient response to the application request.

3. I agree to permit the reviewers of this application to utilize transcripts of my academic performance for the purposes of evaluation of this applicaiton

4. I will submit 2 letters of recommendation sent directly to gary@aiaorlando.com from professors as described in the Application Process

5. I understand this Scholarship is administered by the Orlando Foundation for Architecture and is not connected with the University of Florida or University of Florida Foundation in any way.

6. If selected, the funds will be distributed by the Orlando Foundation for Architecture and deposited in the scholarship awardee's institutional account.
