The Article linked below challenges architects to change their thinking, and their egos. I think sometimes the author exaggerates for sensationalism, but I agree with many of the basic tenets. The current architectural acedemic theory, has no place for theme parks, big business in Orlando, historic preservation and casino towns like Las Vegas; no niche in its ideology.

The disconnect between her education, and 80% of the work in firms, led her to leave the profession. She advocates that architects take advantage of the new power of social media to poll the population, an observation I also believe is long overdue.
